Private sports coaching, half the price.

Local high school and college athletes coach younger players 1-on-1, soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, and more. Typically $20–35/session instead of $60–100 from adult coaches.

A student athlete coaching a young player

Private coaches are expensive. Your neighbor’s star athlete isn’t.

Most parents want private coaching but can’t justify $75+/hour. So their student stays in the group clinic, gets 5 minutes of individual attention, and plateaus.

Student athletes who made varsity, play club, or compete in college know the sport at a level your student hasn’t reached yet. They’re close enough in age to connect, old enough to teach, and motivated to show up and do a great job.

How it works.

Frequently asked questions.

What sports are available on StudentGigs?

Soccer, basketball, baseball, tennis, swimming, volleyball, track and field, lacrosse, golf, and more. Student athletes list their sport, position, and experience level.

Does the student coach need certification?

No formal coaching certification is required. Student coaches are high school and college athletes who made varsity, play club, or compete at the college level. They know the sport because they play it.

What equipment is needed for lessons?

It depends on the sport. Generally, provide your child’s equipment (cleats, racket, ball, etc.). The student coach brings their coaching expertise. Specify any equipment details in the gig posting.

How long are typical sports lessons?

Most sessions run 45–60 minutes, though you can book longer sessions. The coach and family agree on session length when booking.

Can I book recurring weekly lessons?

Yes. Use the Rebook feature to schedule the same coach for a regular weekly slot. Consistent practice with the same coach leads to the best improvement.

What ages can take lessons?

Any age. Student coaches work with kids from elementary school through middle school. The coach adjusts drills and intensity based on the learner’s age and skill level.
